with a consolation bracket was applied at a
basketball tournament. As long as you won, you advanced to the
championship round. If you lost, you immediately moved into a meaningless
consolation bracket. Now imagine two specific occurrences:

game for the ages. Your 100% certain that your team is the best in the
tournament. Now imagine your team losing on a last second

used. This is due not so much because it may happen, but rather than that
